PM Modi to arrive in Raipur today for DGP/ IGP conf

Raipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to arrive in Raipur on Friday evening to attend the three-day DG/IG conference, themed ‘Viksit Bharat: Security Dimensions'. From November 28 to 30, police chiefs from across the country will review ongoing responses to internal security challenges and deliberate on left wing extremism, counterterrorism, disaster management, women's safety, and leveraging forensic science and AI in policing. The Prime Minister will also confer the President's police medals for distinguished service. According to a statement issued by PIB, the conference will review progress made so far and outline a forward-looking national policing framework. Key sessions will focus on left wing extremism, counterterrorism, disaster management, women's safety, integration of forensic science and AI in policing. The agenda reflects a shift toward technology-enabled policing and future-ready security architecture. The event will also be attended by the Union home minister Amit Shah, national security adviser Ajit Doval, ministers of state (home), DGPs of all States/UTs, and heads of Central Police Organisations. To infuse fresh ideas, selected DIGs, SPs and heads of state home departments will also participate this year. Besides operational and security concerns, discussions will include welfare challenges faced by police forces, best practices in crime control, law-and-order management, and responses to evolving internal security threats. Since the last few years, the conference has been taken to diverse venues across the country — from Guwahati and Rann of Kachchh to Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, Jaipur, the Statue of Unity, and most recently, Bhubaneswar. Raipur now becomes the latest city to host the country's most influential policing dialogue. PM and Shah will be staying at Speaker House at Naya Raipur and security has been tightened in the region. With the state witnessing a decisive shift in the fight against left wing extremism and emerging as a key theatre in India's internal security strategy, officials say Raipur offers both symbolism and strategic relevance for the 60th edition of the conference.
