Only new or changed entries to submit papers during SIR door-to-door roll call
Raipur: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Chhattisgarh will enter its crucial door-to-door verification phase beginning Tuesday, during which Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit homes to verify voter identification details.Announcing the process, chief electoral officer (CEO) Yashwant Kumar said on Monday that only 5–6% of voters will be required to provide documents, while the records of the remaining voters have already been verified."Voters whose names were included in the 2003 SIR list will not have to submit documents again," Kumar clarified. "Only those with new entries or changes in details need to provide documents."The 2003 SIR list has been used as the base for the ongoing revision. So far, 71% of voters have been matched with existing data, and officials expect this figure to rise to 94–95% once the enumeration phase concludes.CEO Kumar said that around 27,199 booth level officers will conduct the verification process across the state, collecting forms with updated personal details and eligibility confirmations. The CEO highlighted that nearly 50% of Chhattisgarh's voters are women, many of whom have shifted polling centers after marriage. BLOs will verify such cases during home visits. He noted that since 2003, several voters have relocated due to delimitation and migration, and the ongoing drive aims to ensure accuracy and inclusion.
