Nod for mere 5k posts of teachers a ‘betrayal’ of youths: Deepak Baij
Raipur: CG congress president Deepak Baij on Sunday criticised the state govt, stating that the finance department's approval for the recruitment of only 5,000 teachers is a betrayal of the state's unemployed youth.Baij pointed out that over 58,000 teaching posts are currently vacant across Chhattisgarh. He recalled that former education minister Brijmohan Agrawal announced in the Assembly that 35,000 teachers would be recruited, and the process already began. Further, he cited Finance Minister O P Choudhary's budget speech this year, which provided for the recruitment of 20,000 teachers. "When the total vacant posts stand at 58,000, the previous process was for 35,000 posts, and the budget had provision for 20,000 posts, why has the financial sanction been given for only 5,000 teachers?" Baij questioned. He also asked when the remaining 53,000 vacant posts would be filled. The Congress leader further alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) govt has failed to fulfil its promise of providing one lakh jobs under ‘Modi's Guarantee' during the Assembly elections. He claimed that the govt should have recruited 40,000 people by now, based on its guarantee, but it has not provided even 2,000 jobs to the youth in its two-year tenure. Baij stated that the govt, which he termed "anti-employment," has reduced the minimum number of teachers' posts in all govt schools under the guise of a 'new setup'. This move has eliminated existing vacancies, leaving D.Ed. and B.Ed. qualified unemployed youth frustrated. He attributed the large number of vacant B.Ed. seats this year to this govt action.
