Naxal arms dump busted: Huge cache of explosives & grenades seized in Bijapur forest CRPF, CoBRA: Massive cache of explosives and grenade materials seized in Bijapur forests
Raipur: Security forces in Maoist-affected Bijapur, recovered a large cache of explosives and barrel grenade launcher (BGL) manufacturing material from a Naxal dump at dense Tadpala–Karreguta forest region, along the Chhattisgarh–Telangana border.
Police officials said the seizure was made during a joint search operation launched from Tadpala base camp by personnel from the CRPF and CoBRA battalions.
The forces acted on specific intelligence inputs about Maoists concealing weapons and explosive-making materials in the dense foothills of Karreguta, an area known for frequent Maoist movement.
The team also detected five pressure IEDs planted along the patrol route, which were safely neutralized by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).
"The alertness of the forces averted a possible tragedy. The Maoists were clearly targeting patrol parties operating in the Karreguta foothills," the officer added.
Officials said these items were carefully hidden in a pit, suggesting plans for large-scale attacks on security forces. "The seized items indicate that the Maoists were preparing to inflict major damage on security personnel operating in the border region," a senior police officer said. All personnel involved in Monday's operation returned safely to the base.
