Mulgeli leads healthcare race while Raipur, Durg lag behind
Raipur: Outperforming several larger and more urbanised districts, Mungeli emerged as Chhattisgarh’s best-performing healthcare district in the 2025-26 Swasthyank grading, while Raipur and Durg were placed outside the top tier.
Mungeli secured the top rank in the National Health Mission’s ‘Achievers’ category through strong performance across 50 health indicators, including maternal and child healthcare, immunisation, tuberculosis control, mental health screening, non-communicable disease detection, Ayushman card coverage, telemedicine and dialysis services.
Mungeli Collector Kundan Kumar said providing quality healthcare remained the administration’s top priority. The district recorded 98% registration of pregnant women, achieved 99.98% institutional deliveries and topped the state in universal immunisation with 103% coverage. Under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, health teams screened nearly all children in schools and anganwadis.
The district ranked fourth in tuberculosis patient notification and third in treatment success rate while achieving 100% screening for mental health disorders. It also topped the state in screening people above 30 years of age for diabetes and hypertension.
All Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in the district are operational. The administration has issued Ayushman cards to 95.5% of residents and Vaya Vandana cards to nearly all eligible senior citizens. Mungeli also achieved 78% teleconsultation coverage and significantly improved its Ayushman card coverage through a special drive.
The district hospital provides free dialysis, knee replacement surgeries, CT scans, intensive care and neonatal services. Mungeli ranked first in the state by conducting 147% more dialysis sessions than its assigned target.
Besides Mungeli, Korba, Koriya, Jashpur, Raigarh, Balrampur, Kondagaon and Dhamtari were placed in the Achievers category. Raipur was ranked among the Performers, while Durg figured in the Slow Movers category, the lowest performance bracket in the state.
