Maoist commander Madvi Hidma's mother who said 'come home, son,' will receive his body instead
RAIPUR: "Come home son," the top Maoist commander Madvi Hidma's mom, who recently dined with Chhattisgarh home minister Vijay Sharma and made a desperate call to her elusive son through a statement, would rather see her son's body coming to the village.
Frail and shivering, Hidma's mother Madvi Pojje in her 70s was firm in her statement, "Where have you gone son, abandoning all your responsibilities back home? I would have searched for you if you were around, but where do I look for you? Come home son," she had said.
Pojje was assured by home minister Sharma that ways for Hidma to choose rehabilitation are open. The wait in the eye of mother has come to an end with her son's encounter.
Now, that Hidma was killed in an encounter by Andhra Pradesh forces, and his family informed about his death, Hidma's mother is preparing with other family members to travel down to Rampasodavaram hospital's mortuary, where Hidma's body has been kept in Alluri Sitarama Raju district in AP. The family will claim the possession of the body and bring it back to Puvarti, Hidma's native village in Sukma district of Bastar.
Chhattisgarh home minister Vijay Sharma said that the state govt will assist the family in transportation of the body.
Speaking to TOI, Bastar range inspector general of police Sundarraj Pattlingam said that as per the standard protocols, be it any big Maoist commander, their families can always claim the possession of body for cremation as per the rituals, after all legal formalities are done.
"Hidma had no other option than to surrender. He remained elusive and went from one place to another because he probably intended to continue with the path of violence, that's why he was on the mission to save his own life in stead of choosing the mainstream life," Sundarraj said.
In Sukma, residents burst firecrackersers after the news of Hidma killed broke out. Police might beef up the security once Hidma's body is brought to Puvarti.
