IIIT Naya Raipur launches process mining specialisation under CM IT fellowship
Raipur: In a significant stride toward digital empowerment and good governance, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Naya Raipur has introduced Process Mining as a new specialisation under the chief minister IT Fellowship (MTech in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence) programme, jointly operated with the Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society (CHiPS).Process Mining is an emerging technology that examines real work processes through data to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and redundancies, thereby streamlining operations and improving transparency. Internationally, it has already been adopted in countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, France, and Italy across both govt and commercial sectors.Reflecting this global trend, IIIT Naya Raipur aims to harness Process Mining to strengthen data-driven decision-making, artificial intelligence applications, and process optimisation across state departments.Between Oct 22 and 26, the institute hosted a five-day faculty development programme on Digital Transformation with Process Mining, which drew participation from faculty members and research scholars in Computer Science, Business Informatics, and Mathematics. The sessions featured live demonstrations and expert talks by leading figures in the field, including IIIT Naya Raipur Director Professor O P Vyas, who is also the head of the Indo-German Process Intelligence Research Group; Dr J C Bose, Head of Data Science at Skan AI, Bangalore; and Dr Nachiket Tapas from Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University (CSVTU), Bhilai.Experts highlighted how Process Mining can serve as a critical tool for govts seeking greater efficiency and accountability through digital transformation. According to Professor Vyas, the initiative underscores the importance of blending data, artificial intelligence, and process science to cultivate a smarter, more responsive administrative ecosystem. As these initiatives gain momentum, IIIT Naya Raipur is positioning itself as a national leader in process-oriented innovation—building a vital bridge between academia, industry, and governance, Professor Vyas said.
