House pays tribute to Shivraj Patil

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Assembly on Monday paid rich tributes to former Lok Sabha Speaker and former Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, who passed away on Dec 12, 2025. Members across party lines remembered him as a seasoned parliamentarian, an able administrator and a dignified public figure, following which the House observed a brief adjournment as a mark of respect. As a mark of respect, the House observed silence and was adjourned for ten minutes. Recalling his contributions, Speaker Raman Singh informed the House that Patil was first elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 1972 and again in 1978, later serving as its Deputy Speaker and Speaker. From 1980 to 2004, he was elected continuously to the Lok Sabha and held several important ministerial portfolios in the Union government. TNN
