‘Consistency is key’: Topper Devesh after years of self-study

Raipur: Devesh Prasad Sahu topped the State Service Examination (SSE)-2024 of the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) securing 773.5 marks. Swapnil Verma and Yeshwant Kumar Dewangan secured the second and third ranks respectively. The integrated merit list for the SSE-2024 was released by the CGSPC late Thursday.A total of 643 candidates who qualified for the interview round feature in the consolidated list. The CGSPC had advertised 246 posts across 17 state services, and the merit list is based on combined scores of the main exam (held from June 26–29, 2025) and interviews (conducted from Nov 10–20).Among women, Shatakshi Pandey led with an impressive 6th rank, while Shrishti Gupta secured the 8th position. The Commission clarified that the released list is solely a merit list and does not constitute the final selection list. The final selection list will be issued separately after posts are allocated according to candidates' preferences. For post allocation, candidates from the unreserved category must score at least 33% marks in each paper of the main examination, while those from reserved categories require a minimum of 23% in each paper. The merit list remains subject to the final orders of the Supreme Court of India in SLP (C) No. 19668/2022. He attended coaching classes for two years, but later self-studied his strength and prepared from home for two consecutive years.
