Bhopal: The Chhattisgarh govt on Tuesday issued a notification renaming Raj Bhawan, the official residence of governor as Lok Bhawan.
The notification said the change followed a recommendation at the 2024 conference of governors and a letter from the Govt of India, Ministry of Home, which referred to decisions taken at the conference.
C R Prasanna, secretary to the governor, told TOI: "a notification has been sent from the office of Chhattisgarh governor to the Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi."
Acting on those directions, the governor's secretariat instructed that the office and residence be referred to as "Lok Bhavan" in all official correspondence, records and govt communications.
Copies of the order were sent to the President's Secretariat, the Prime Minister's Office, the Union Home Minister's office, the chief secretary of Chhattisgarh, all state govt departments, all district collectors and the deputy secretary to the Governor to ensure uniform adoption across administrative channels.
