CG Lok Adalat resolves backlog of 55 lakh cases, awards 649 cr
Raipur: The Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority (CGSLSA) achieved a record resolution of cases during the year's final National Lok Adalat, settling 55,27,165 matters and awarding over Rs 649 crore in settlement amounts. This success followed comprehensive virtual monitoring and review by the state's top judicial authority.Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha of the Chhattisgarh High Court, who is also the patron-in-chief of CGSLSA, conducted a virtual inspection of the proceedings across all 23 districts of the state on Saturday. He connected virtually from the high court, meticulously assessing the Lok Adalat sessions and holding interactions with all Principal District and Sessions Judges.Justice Sinha stressed that the National Lok Adalat provides a crucial platform for litigants to resolve disputes amicably and swiftly. He urged all judicial officers to strive for the maximum possible resolution of pending cases.The Chief Justice personally visited and interacted with two benches constituted for the National Lok Adalat at the high court. These benches were presided over by Justice Arvind Kumar Verma and Justice Bibhu Datta Guru.
Justice Sinha appreciated their work in conducting the Lok Adalat effectively and promoting amicable dispute resolution.The concerted efforts resulted in the resolution of a massive volume of cases across the high court, district and sessions courts, tehsil level courts, and revenue courts. The total number of settled cases—including compoundable criminal cases, civil cases, revenue matters, pre-litigation cases, and traffic challans—stood at 55,27,165. The final award amount reached Rs 6,49,35,93,768.
