RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday alleged that opposition leaders’ phones were being tapped, and accused the BJP-led Union government of trying to destabilize governments where the Congress is in power.

“Phones of many leaders are under surveillance. There could be an attempt to destabilize Congress governments, including in Chhattisgarh,” he told mediapersons during a dharna in Delhi.

Baghel, his cabinet colleagues and Congress legislators from Chhattisgarh were detained by the Delhi Police as they marched towards the ED office from AICC headquarters, and shifted from the agitation spot. Speaking to the media, Baghel said the youngsters are angered by the 'Agnipath' scheme, which he said was not in the interest of the nation. Demanding withdrawal of the scheme, he said, "After four years of service, BJP wants to employ the 'Agniveers' as security guards." Baghel also alleged that BJP plans to "somehow end the reservation system".

Centre trying to 'harass RaGa': CM

The Congress chief minister said the BJP government at the Centre was trying to "browbeat and harass Rahul Gandhi" because he has been raising issues of corruption, inflation, and problems of farmers and youth. "Despite this misuse of central agencies, neither Rahul nor the Congress party will bow down before such tactics. We will continue to raise the voice of people," Baghel said.
