PUNE: A 19-year-old youth was crushed under the wheels of a private luxury bus near Pune railway station on Tuesday night.
The Bund Garden police have identified the deceased as Rahul Subhash Ghone of Dhankawdi. Police said Ghone and his friend Pushpak Phade (19) were astride a motorcycle. When they were near the railway station, Ghone, who was riding the motorcycle dashed a cyclist and lost balance.
Both fell on the road. The bus which was behind them ran over Ghone, police said.
Police have registered a case against the unidentified driver who fled the spot in the bus.
Another accident took place on Alandi Road on Tuesday afternoon in which a 25-year-old motorcyclist died after he was knocked down by a speeding mini-bus. The Vishrantwadi police have identified the deceased as Dnyaneshwar Mohan Rathod of Dighi. Police have arrested bus driver Vinod Bharmal (24) of Ambegaon for negligent driving.
Sub-inspector of Vishrantwadi police station D M Chandan said the accident took place around 1.30pm, when Rathod was heading towards Alandi.
