Pune: A petty dispute over showing respect to the dead led four men to the abduction and attempt to kill a 33-year-old fabrication worker on Tuesday night.Senior inspector Pramod Wagh of the Dighi police said the brother of the fabrication worker knew one of the four suspects. Recently, the victim’s brother and one of the suspects had a heated argument over the issue of not showing respect to a deceased man. “The victim had just gone to resolve the matter,” Wagh told TOI.The three accomplices abducted the complainant from Charholi late on Tuesday night and took him to a secluded spot along the Alandi-Wadgaon Road. They video-called the main suspect, who allegedly instructed them to kill him.The assailant assaulted the victim with sharp weapons and left him at the spot, assuming he was dead. The victim, however, survived the attack and contacted his friends. He later reached the Dighi police station. The police swung into action and nabbed three of the assailants. “We are searching for the other suspect involved in the attack,” Wagh said. The police have registered a case under sections 140 (abduction to murder), 109 (attempt to murder), and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
