Ravi Pandit, KPIT Tech co-founder, passes away at 75

Pune: Ravi Pandit, co-founder and chairman of global software company KPIT Technologies, passed away on Friday following a brief illness. He was 75. He is known to have made significant contributions to India's technology, mobility and sustainability landscape.KPIT's engineering solutions power millions of vehicles across the US, Europe and Asia driving breakthroughs in autonomous mobility, electrification and clean energy technologies. He also chaired Kirtane & Pandit Chartered Accountants (KPCA), one of the largest Indian-origin professional services firms operating across 15 countries.He was deeply committed to social and environmental causes and played an important role in institutions such as Pune International Centre, Center for Sustainable Development at Gokhale Institute, Janwani, MCCIA, among others.Sunetra Pawar, deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, said on X, "Through his work, he left a distinct mark in the fields of information technology, industry, education, and social sectors, helping numerous institutions gain global recognition. With his scholarly leadership, humble nature, and society-oriented perspective, he became an inspiration for many. With his demise, the industrial world, including Pune, has lost a far-sighted and sensitive leader."Pandit was an alumnus of the Sloan School of Management at MIT, USA, a gold-medalist chartered accountant and a recipient of honorary doctorates from Coventry University, Amity University, TVM University and EMB University. He was also the co-author of the book "Leapfrogging to Pole-Vaulting". He is survived by his wife Nirmala, his children Chinmay and Prachi.
