Pimpri Chinchwad police bust sex racket operating under guise of spa in Wakad
Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch on Friday busted a sex racket being run under the guise of a spa in Wakad, and arrested the spa owner and manager.
The police also found two women allegedly being forced into prostitution at the establishment, and sent both to a rescue home.
A crime branch team led by senior police inspector Nitin Gite made the arrests. A case was registered against the spa owner and manager with the Hinjewadi police on Saturday.
Gite said that since Jan this year, his team has raided 11 spas or massage parlours and four hotels where prostitution activities were allegedly being carried out. The police also busted one online prostitution racket.
“The police have sent 37 women to rescue homes and arrested 38 persons involved in running the sex rackets,” he said.
According to Gite, Pimpri Chinchwad police commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey has issued orders to seal three spas and one hotel for a year where sex rackets were being operated. In 2025, the CP had issued orders to shut eight establishments for a year.
“We will continue our action against illegal sex rackets in Pimpri Chinchwad,” Gite said.
