Search continues for 3 suspects in Mahalunge firing case

Pune: The Mahalunge MIDC police are searching for three men who opened fire on a 38-year-old man at a Garba event late Saturday night. The victim, Nilesh Asati, a shop owner from Mahalunge, suffered bullet injuries near his chest and is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital.Senior inspector Nitin Gite said during the event at a Navratri Mandal in Mahalunge, one of the suspects got into an argument with the son of a Mandal worker. The suspect's mother and the worker's wife got involved too. "The organiser has to stop the Garba. Furious, the women in the Garba abused and beat the suspect," he added. After the altercation, one of the suspect's two accomplices fired a round toward Asati, a member of the Mandal. The suspects fired one more round, which hit the ground, before fleeing the scene.One of the suspects is from Mahalunge but hails from Yavatmal district, while the identities of the other two are still unknown. Teams have been dispatched to track down the trio, Gite said.
