Construction worker falls from 19th floor, dies
Pune: A 19-year-old construction worker died after falling from the 19th floor of an under-construction building along the Pancard Club Road in Baner on Thursday morning. The accident happened around 9.30am, when the victim, Ragib Ehsan Raqib, hailed from Katihar in Bihar, was fixing the outer shuttering plate for the slab on the 19th floor.The Baner police have registered a case of causing death by negligence against the builder, site supervisor and labour contractor under Section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The victim's brother, Mohammed Raquib, has lodged a complaint. An officer from the Baner police said the complainant also claimed that the builder, site supervisor and labour contractor did not provide any safety gear for the workers. There were no safety nets, due to which his brother fell from the 19th floor and died at the spot. "We have registered the case. Our investigations are on," the officer said.
