PUNE: A 20-year-old was arrested for stealing cellphones from the houses where people are used to taking an afternoon nap.
The suspect,
Riyaz Shakir Shaikh
(20) of
Lohiyanagar
in
Bhavani Peth
, would target houses in Guruwar Peth, Lohiyanagar, Ganesh Peth, Ganj Peth and
Ghorpade Peth
where people are used to sleeping in the afternoon with their doors open.
Shaikh
would do a recce of such houses and steal the cellphones the next day. He would operate only between 3pm and 6pm.
Shaikh, however, ran out of luck after he was arrested by the Khadak police on Saturday. A total of 13 cellphones, worth Rs 1.70 lakh, were recovered from him. The police team was led by senior inspector
Raghunath Jadhav
and sub-inspector Sanjay Gaikwad.
Jadhav said that Shaikh is a historysheeter and has been arrested before in cases of house break in.
