Villagers attack trader's house

HAZARIBAG: An irate mob of villagers of Ashdhir under the Katkumsandi police station of this district on Wednesday entered the house of local businessman Sunil Kumar Jain and beat up the inmates in protest against the killing of a co-villager near Lupung by a truck belonging to the businessman, according to police sources.
According to reports, when the businessman’s truck was returning to Hazaribag from the said village, suddenly one person in a drunken state fell before the truck and was run over.He died on the spot.
Fearing trouble, the truck driver fled from the spot with the vehicle and parked it in the businessman’s house. However, over a hundred irate villagers chased the vehicle in another truck and reached the residence of the businessman. They started se-arching the truck driver and smashed the windscreen of the vehicle.
Then they fo-rcibly entered the businessman’s house and started be-ating up the members of the family. However, when they were trying to torch the vehicle, people from the neighbouring mohallas came out with lathis and rods and attacked the mob and informed the police. On seeing this, the mob started dispersing.
