Seven polytechnics secure prestigious NBA recognition

Patna: Ten engineering programmes across seven govt polytechnic institutes under the department of science, technology and technical education have received accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

The accredited programmes include mechanical engineering, electronics engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science engineering. The institutions that secured the recognition are govt polytechnics at Aurangabad, Chapra, Kishanganj, Supaul, Saharsa, West Champaran, and New Government Polytechnic (NGP), Patna.

The achievement builds on the success of 2024, when New Government Polytechnic, Patna received NBA accreditation for it’s civil engineering, and mechanical engineering programmes. Education experts believe the latest recognition marks a major milestone in Bihar’s efforts to strengthen the quality and credibility of technical education at the national level.

Science, technology, and technical education minister Shila Kumari described the accreditation as a matter of pride for the state. She attributed the success to sustained improvements in documentation, research and development, and placement activities across institutions.

Department secretary Himanshu Sharma termed the achievement ‘just the beginning’ and expressed confidence that more technical institutions in Bihar would soon join the list of NBA-accredited colleges.

Additional secretary-cum-director Ahmed Mahmood credited the accomplishment to teamwork and consistent efforts. The accreditation is expected to inspire other institutions to pursue excellence and further elevate Bihar’s technical education landscape.
