Directorate of Distance Education of Patna University is likely to become the first fully computerised wing of the university.

PATNA: The Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) of Patna University (PU) is likely to become the first fully computerised wing of the university.
The DDE office has already been computerised and its various counters are being connected to the computer network. DDE director Amarendra Mishra told TOI here that all the officers and staff of the office have been imparted necessary training in computing skills.
Necessary softwares for accounts, admissions and examinations were also being developed. The entire working of the DDE office will be automated within a fortnight, he added.The DDE has already launched its website (www.ddepu.org) displaying all relevant information about its activities.
Information regarding contact classes for the students of various courses and programmes of different forthcoming examinations are also flashed on the website for the benefit of distance learners.

DDE admission: Even as the last date for submission of application forms for admission to intermediate and three-year degree courses in different colleges of PU is coming to an end, DDE has decided to start its admission process on July 10.
While direct admission of students to IA, ICom and BCom Honours Part I classes will commence from July 10, that of BA Honours Part I class would be held from July 31.
The number of seats in IA and ICom classes is limited (640 each), but there is no limitation of seats in BA and BCom honours classes.

Admission of students against limited seats in Bachelor of Library and Information Science, P-G Diploma in Journalism and Bachelor of Computer Applications courses will be held between August 28 and September 23, said Mishra.
P-G admission: Sale of application forms for admission to the post-graduation courses in arts, science and commerce faculties of Patna University commenced on Wednesday. The last date for submission of forms is July 20, according to PU sources.New NSS Coordinator:
Patna Science College geology teacher Rabindra Kumar has been appointed new National Service Scheme programme coordinator of PU for a period of three years. The post was lying vacant for the last several months.
