patna: over 36 hours after the kidnapping of a relative of the bihar legislative assembly speaker in bhagalpur and the murder of a teenaged boy allegedly by state minister rajendra prasad yadav’s son in madhepura, the state police have failed to make any progress in either of the cases. police sources said in patna on wednesday evening that the minister’s son, vishal yadav alias babloo, who has been named as an accused in the case of murder of mohd ishtiaq in madhepura on tuesday morning, was yet to be arrested.
madhepura sp amrit raj, while talking to a section of the media, stated that the accused was not in the district. this is the information the district police have, he said. ishtiaq’s father, who lodged the fir in this connection, meanwhile, reiterated that he was witness to vishal yadav opening indiscriminate fire at a function organised on the occasion of chaiti durga puja. the firing resulted into the death of his son, he said. however, minister rajendra prasad yadav, who was camping in the madhepura town, maintained that his son was not involved in the crime. the bullets were fired from outside the venue of the function, he said, adding that his son was innocent. “what enmity could my son have with a 15-year-old boy (the deceased)?� he asked. the bhagalpur police are yet to make any breakthrough in the case of kidnapping of sagar kumar, the grandson of assembly speaker sadanand singh’s cousin. sagar, a nursery student of st joseph’s school at kahalgaon in bhagalpur, was kidnapped by unknown criminals while he was going to his school on a rickshaw on tuesday morning. while the bhagalpur district officials could not be contacted, ig (operations) neelmani said in patna on wednesday that the police were carrying out intensive raids to recover the kidnapped child. “we are hopeful of his recovery soon,� the ig added.
