Karakat election results 2024 live updates: Raja Ram Singh from CPI(ML) wins

NEW DELHI: Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation) candidate Raja Ram Singh won Karakat Lok Sabha constituency by a margin of 105858 votes.

Karakat is one of the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state of Bihar. The Karakat constituency went to the polls on June 1 in the phase 7 of the 2024 general elections.

The Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) has fielded Upendra Kushwaha, who was the runner-up in the 2019 elections. Other candidates include Rajaram Singh CPI(ML), independent candidates like Pawan Singh etc.

In the 2019 elections, Singh secured 398,408 votes (46% of total votes), defeating Kushwaha who got 313,866 votes. The voter turnout in Karakat was 54.72% in 2019.

In 2014, Upendra Kushwaha from the RLSP party emerged victorious with 338,821 votes. The runner-up, Kanti Singh from the RJD party, fell behind with a margin of victory of 105,202 votes.

Karakat has a diverse demographic, with significant populations of Yadavs, Bhumihars, Brahmins, Kurmis, Koeris and Muslims. There are approximately 359,696 SC voters, constituting around 19.8% of the electorate according to the 2011 Census. ST voters number around 1,817, making up about 0.1%. Muslim voters account for approximately 158,142, representing about 8.7% according to voter list analysis.
