Patna: The Bihar govt has decided to examine private schools across the state by launching a month-long inspection drive from July 1 to 31. During the campaign, all recognised private schools will be examined to assess whether they are complying with govt regulations and prescribed educational standards.
According to education secretary Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, private schools are granted provisional recognition for three years under specific conditions. Renewal of recognition is approved only after schools are found compliant with prescribed norms and infrastructure requirements. He said schools must also follow all govt directives issued from time to time to ensure smooth functioning and quality education.
The state govt has particularly decided to review compliance with the Right to Education (RTE) Act and the Bihar State Rules on Free and Compulsory Education for Children. At present, Bihar has 19,186 recognised private schools, while another 1,012 schools are in the process of obtaining recognition.
The education department has issued instructions and directed divisional commissioners to ensure effective implementation of the campaign in their respective districts. DMs, DDCs, SDOs, DEOs and BDOs will participate in the inspection using a standardised evaluation format.
Official sources said the drive aims to verify whether schools continue to maintain required standards even after receiving recognition.
