The undergraduate courses offered by Patna University's Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) have proved a huge a hit with hundreds of boys and girls queuing up at the admission counters every day ever since the process of admission began on Monday.

PATNA: The undergraduate courses offered by Patna University's Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) have proved a huge a hit with hundreds of boys and girls queuing up at the admission counters every day ever since the process of admission began on Monday.
DDE's admission forms are selling at different branches of Allahabad Bank on the university campus and all of them are drawing huge crowds.

According to DDE sources, candidates with above 60% marks in Class XII can secure admission to three-year degree courses in arts and commerce till Saturday. Similarly, candidates with more than 55% marks can secure admission from August 8 to 12 and those having above 50% marks can get themselves admitted from August 16 to 23. Candidates belonging to reserved categories with at least 45% marks have been called for admission from August 24 to 31.
DDE director Prashant Datt attributed the rush of admission seekers this year to the impressive performance of DDE students in the examination last year. As many as 104 boys and 67 girls of DDE secured first division in different honours examinations of PU, he said.
The DDE has also invited applications for admission to Bachelor and PG diploma courses in Library and Information Science, Bachelor in Computer Applications, PG diploma in Marketing Management, PG diploma in Financial Management and PG diploma in Operations Management courses. The last date for submission of application forms is August 20. As the number of seats in these courses is limited, admission shall be made on the basis of merit, Datt said.
Meanwhile, the last date for submission of application forms for admission to MA, MSc and MCom courses of PU ended on Thursday. The PG departments are likely to publish the lists of candidates selected for admission this week and the process of admission would start next week.
