CM meets President Murmu, discusses Bihar’s development
Patna: Chief minister Samrat Choudhary, who was on a two-day trip to Delhi, met President Droupadi Murmu, on the second day of his visit on Friday. The CM shared pictures of his meeting with the President on social media.
In a post on X, he wrote, “Today, a courtesy meeting was held with the Hon’ble President of the country, Droupadi Murmu ji, at Rashtrapati Bhavan. On this occasion, I received her guidance.”
Prior to the meeting with the President, the CM called on Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. During this meeting, discussions were held on issues related to farmers’ empowerment and the agriculture sector in Bihar.
Choudhary returned from Delhi in the afternoon on Friday. After landing at Patna airport, the CM went straight away to the residence of former CM Nitish Kumar. The two leaders discussed issues related to the state for nearly 15 minutes.
Earlier on Thursday evening, the CM held a meeting with Bihar cadre IAS and IPS officers in Delhi. Addressing the Bihar-cadre officers at an event, Choudhary said Bihar’s progress is extremely important for building a ‘Viksit Bharat’. He told senior officers, policymakers and stakeholders from various sectors that collective effort is needed for Bihar’s “Navnirman” and comprehensive transformation.
He also said Bihar has made remarkable progress in areas such as infrastructure, electricity, connectivity and rural development, but it is essential to continuously work together to give the state a new identity at the global level.
“Bihar represents approximately 10% of the country’s population. The dream of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ cannot be fulfilled without Bihar’s rapid development,” Choudhary said and urged senior officers to play the role of a strong bridge between the central and state govts and to accelerate development plans and investment.
The CM said the changes taking place in Bihar are now clearly visible. In particular, improved infrastructure and connectivity give people visiting the state a feel of development. He also highlighted the govt’s efforts towards strengthening the tourism sector and giving a new identity to Bihar’s cultural and historical heritage.
At the event, NITI Aayog member Rajiv Gauba said Bihar has “immense potential”, but the gap between potential and reality needs to be bridged through effective policy and better implementation. Citing improvements in social indicators such as infant and maternal mortality rates, he said, Bihar is now ready to take off on a path of rapid development.
