Champaran rice mill staffer robbed of Rs 27 lakh, killed

MOTIHARI: Unidentified criminals killed the accountant of a rice mill before robbing him of Rs27 lakh in cash at the factory gate at Ramgarhwa under the same police station area in East Champaran district around 8pm on Sunday.

The criminals indiscriminately fired at the SUV in which the victim, identified as Dilip Singh, returned to the mill after collecting arrears from Muzaffarpur, police said on Monday.

Dilip was a resident of Gaur in Nepal and worked as an accountant of the rice mill for a long time.

Dilip died on the spot while SUV driver Suresh Kushwaha sustained gunshot injury and was admitted to a nursing home at Raxaul. The criminals escaped on their four-wheeler towards Raxaul after committing crime.

East Champaran SP Kantesh Kumar Mishra and Raxaul SDPO Dhirendra Kumar reached the rice mill after the incident.

Mishra said the four-wheeler used by the criminals was recovered. The criminals are yet to be arrested.
