24 cells for conduct of assembly polls constituted in Gaya

Gaya: District magistrate (DM) Shashank Shubhankar, in his capacity as the district election officer, on Friday notified 24 different cells for conduct of assembly elections in a fair, transparent and participative manner.The most important cell pertains to the deployment of personnel at all polling stations of the 10 assembly segments of the district. The other cells include media, training, law and order, material and transport.Dispatch centres too have been created at SNS College Sherghati; Magadh University Bodh Gaya; Gaya Engineering College; Raj School, Tikari and Gaya College. The Gaya College dispatch centre will cover Gaya town, Belaganj and Wazirganj assembly segments.According to the DM, directions have been issued to all the heads of different cells to start functioning and also for re-verification of cellphone numbers of poll personnel. The officials have also been directed to ensure compliance of the election manual.Special emphasis is being given to proper training of the poll officials and the training schedule will take into account the nitty-gritty of the conduct of elections. Basic amenities like safe drinking water, clean toilets, proper ventilation and lighting etc have to be ensured at the training centres, he said.The DM also held a meeting in which besides all the 10 returning officers of different assembly segments, DDC Navin Kumar and municipal commissioner Kumar Anurag were present.
