On the occasion, they got rakhis tied by women police and EWS children.

“Like every year, this year too, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, we members of the Jeevan Arpan Social Service Organization, celebrated the festival with EWS children of Sector 62 slums and got rakhis tied by them. Getting rakhis tied by these children we also commit to fulfilling their needs and celebrate the festival with all enthusiasm with them,” said Deepanshu Sharma, president of JASSS.

The children are also provided free education by Kartvya Sanstha.

The group of good samaritan volunteers also visited Sector 39 police station and got rakhis tied from women police personnel on the occasion.

Anmol Sehgal, another member of the social group, said that when the police women leave their families and are deployed in service to protect the citizens, many times they cannot reach their brothers on Raksha Bandhan festival.

“In such a situation, every year members of JASSS make up for this deficiency by having rakhis tied from these women policemen and step in as brothers for them,” said Sehgal.

“It’s a commitment which we have been pursuing for the last three-four years and intend to maintain for the future. It’s our way of showing respect for our police sisters,” said Sehgal.

Gaurav Mehra, another member of the group, said,“We want to spread the message that one should stand up for the safety of our sisters and give respect to all the women, and daughters of the country just like we do at home with our family.”
