Noida: Seven schoolchildren from Jesus and Mary Convent School in Greater Noida were injured, one of them severely, as a van carrying them collided with a Ramagya School bus on Monday morning near Roopwas village in Dadri. Driver of the Jesus and Mary van also sustained critical injuries and remains under critical care.
While the Ramagya School van was empty, the other vehicle was carrying at least a dozen kids to school at the time.
According to police, the two buses were approaching from opposite directions on a narrow patch of road around 7.30am and collided head on. The collision was so severe that the front portions of both buses were severely damaged.
All injured were shifted to a nearby hospital and most children subsequently collected by their parents. Traffic in the area wasbriefly disrupted by the accident.
Police said both buses have been seized and an investigation has been launched. Preliminary investigations indicate speeding and negligence are the primary causes of the accident.
