Pvt agencies set to maintain city parks, collect waste too

Noida: Ahead of Swachh Survekshan, Noida Authority will hire private agencies to maintain parks and green spaces in more than 22 sectors. Dubbed dust-free zones, these parks were constructed for residents to take morning walks and for kids to play. However, the green areas have been facing encroachment issues and lying in shambles, with no maintenance of the waterbodies or collection of horticulture waste.Agencies will have a contract of two years, tenders for which have been issued, said officials. The maintenance of the parks will involve watering, pruning, cleaning, and horticulture waste collection.Noida stood first in Uttar Pradesh and 14th in the country during the Swachh Survekshan 2023. However, it had a low score of 71% under the source segregation of waste category, after which the authority started a cleanliness drive in 13 sectors promoting mandatory source segregation.Senior officials of the authority will interview supervisors who will overview the maintenance to assess their understanding and competence in doing the job, said officials.
