Kumar emphasized that the administration is actively communicating with the workers and remains open to resolving their concerns through talks. He invited them to participate in discussions to find a solution.

Committee members added that extensive meetings were conducted on Monday with both workers and business representatives, involving hundreds of stakeholders. Based on these interactions, recommendations have been prepared that consider the interests of both parties.

Laxmi Singh, Police Commissioner of Gautam Buddh Nagar, stated that more than 300 people have been taken into custody and seven FIRs have been lodged in connection with the workers’ protest in Noida that escalated into violence.

Speaking to the media, she said police have been conducting continuous route marches since early morning to ensure the situation remains under control.

“Since 5:00 AM, route marches have been ongoing. Today, workers assembled at three different locations, but after prompt discussions, they were dispersed peacefully within 15 minutes,” she said.

Singh also revealed that in the last two days, multiple WhatsApp groups were created using QR codes to add workers, pointing to the involvement of a coordinated network behind the unrest.

“Several WhatsApp groups have been formed recently, where workers are being added through QR code scans. This suggests the presence of a well-organised syndicate orchestrating these activities,” she added.

She confirmed that those responsible for inciting violence have been identified and arrested, and further investigations and actions are currently in progress.

Vehicles were torched, property was vandalised and stone pelting was reported from Phase 2 and Sector 60 areas in Noida on Monday as protests by factory workers demanding a wage hike turned violent, police said.

The protests paralysed traffic, leaving thousands of commuters stranded on different roads leading to Delhi during the morning rush hour. Long queues of vehicles stretching for several kilometres were seen at the Delhi-Noida border.

According to officials, a large number of workers from various industrial units gathered in the morning to press their long-pending demand for salary revision and raised slogans during the demonstration.

Similar protests were also reported from Sector 62 and Sector 84, including at a Motherson company unit. Protesters also blocked National Highway 9.

The protests soon spiralled into violence, with some protesters vandalising property, pelting stones and setting vehicles on fire.

Adequate police deployment has been ensured across industrial zones under the Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate, the officials said.

Senior police and administrative officers are present on the ground to monitor the situation. A heavy police force was rushed to the affected areas to bring the situation under control, they said.

"The situation is under control and being continuously monitored. Efforts are being made to counsel the workers and maintain peace. Minimum force is being used wherever necessary to maintain law and order," police said in a statement.

Authorities also appealed to the public not to pay heed to rumours and assured that normalcy is being restored in the affected areas.

The violence erupted a day after the Uttar Pradesh government announced a series of measures aimed at strengthening labour welfare, including mandatory double overtime pay and timely wages for workers in Gautam Buddha Nagar.

District Magistrate Medha Roopam on Sunday held meetings with representatives of industrial units and issued key directives to safeguard workers' rights.

She directed that workers willing to continue their jobs should not face any inconvenience and asked managements to maintain dialogue with employees in line with government norms.

She announced that workers would be paid overtime at double the standard rate without deductions and would be entitled to a weekly off. In case of work on Sundays, double wages would be paid, while bonuses would be provided as per rules.

The administration also directed industrial units to ensure CCTV cameras at factory gates remain functional and set up a control room to address workers' grievances and maintain law and order.

Officials said industrial units and workers may report any issues they encounter to this control room via the telephone numbers 1202978231, 1202978232, 1202978862, and 1202978702, thereby ensuring prompt remedial action.

Security was tightened along Delhi's key entry points on Monday.

According to police sources, several teams have been deployed at all motorable roads connecting Noida to different parts of Delhi, particularly at major border points with Uttar Pradesh, to prevent any spillover of the unrest.

Senior officers said that strict vigil is being maintained and thorough checking of vehicles is being carried out to ensure that no anti-social elements enter the city under the guise of the protest.

"Delhi Police is fully alert and vigilant. Adequate force has been deployed at all strategic locations. No one will be allowed to breach law and order," a senior police officer said.

Barricading has been intensified at key border points and additional personnel, including rapid response teams, paramilitary forces, have been stationed to respond swiftly to any untoward incident.

Police officers said they are monitoring the situation and are in touch with their Uttar Pradesh counterparts.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday blamed the BJP government's "one-sided policies" for the violent protests by workers in Noida, alleging the regime favours capitalists while neglecting salaried employees and labourers.

Reacting to the violence through a post on X, Yadav said the agitation over wage hike had turned aggressive due to policies that "nurture capitalists but exploit workers".

He alleged that while funds continue to flow towards "donor capitalists", workers are deprived of fair wages.

"In times of rising inflation, it is extremely difficult for a family to survive on low wages. Only someone running a household can understand this," he said, adding that salaried employees no longer want the BJP.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister also shared a video clip of incidents of arson and vandalism during the protests.

Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai also slammed the government over the handling of the situation, saying visuals from outside the Motherson company in Noida were "disturbing".

"When inflation is breaking people's backs and workers are being exploited in the name of wages, the youth will be forced to come out on the streets," Rai said in a post on X.

"Advertisements cannot fill empty stomachs. Tear gas shells cannot answer hunger. Stop ignoring the legitimate demands of workers and find a solution instead of resorting to repression," he added, addressing Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

In a brief update, the DGP said "provocative elements" and "external elements" involved in the unrest are being traced.

"Firm legal action will follow once their identities are established," Krishna said.

Police said adequate deployment has been made across industrial zones under the Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate, and senior officials are present on the ground to maintain law and order.

The authorities maintained that the situation is under control and under continuous surveillance, and appealed to the public not to pay heed to rumours.

Uttar Pradesh director general of police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna on Monday said that police are identifying individuals who allegedly instigated violence during workers’ protests in Noida, warning that strict action will be taken against them.

In a brief update, the DGP said that “provocative elements” and “external elements” involved in the unrest are being traced.

"Firm legal action will follow once their identities are established," Krishna said.

Officials said the DGP, along with senior officers including Additional Director General (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash, is monitoring the situation in Noida from the police headquarters control room.
