NOIDA: From leather and electronics to GI-tagged fabric and art styles, the first UP international trade show, which President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate at the India Expo Mart on September 21, will showcase products from across the state.
Officials said the five-day fair will see nearly 2,000 people selling their wares while 400 foreign buyers will likely turn up to check them out.
Over 1,800 stalls, with over 40 categories of products, on the theme — the biggest sourcing show of
Uttar Pradesh — will come up on 50,000 sqm at the venue. Failing to get adequate space at the International Trade Fair in Delhi at Pragati Maidan last year, the UP government is now holding its first international trade fair in Greater Noida.
Nand Gopal Gupta, minister for industrial development, export, NRI and investment promotion in UP, said, “The investment policies in the state have promoted industrial development and created an inclusive ecosystem. We received investment proposals of Rs 33 lakh crore during the Global Investors Summit in February 2023. To create space for products from UP in international markets, the state government, jointly with India Exposition Mart, is now organising the first UP international trade fair, which will be an annual event.”
The stalls will have products from sectors like leather, electronics, dairy, glass, marble, sugar, toys, and GI-tagged products. Officials said GI-tagged products of UP, like Amroha dholak, Kalpi handmade paper, Baghpat home furnishings, Barabanki handloom, Mahoba gaura patthar hastashlip, Mainpuri tarkashi and Sambhal horn crafts will be on display at a special event. There will also be live demonstrations of Kannauj ittar, Meerut brass band, and Bijnor paint brush.
During the event, the health and wellness sector will have a showcase. Besides, the crafts of 12 cities will be on show in a hall in the complex. Under one district one product (ODOP), there will be an exhibition where buyers can directly connect with artisans and place orders.
On September 21, after the inauguration, there will be a musical jugal bandi and a Sufi music event. Day 2 will see a knowledge session focused on export promotion, during which Mumbai Dabbawala will present case studies on logistics, supply chain, and time management. Day 3 will witness a cooking competition where young chefs from UP can demonstrate their culinary prowess. A celebrity chef will also hold a special masterclass for them. On Day 4, there will also be an event showcasing Khadi apparel made in the state, followed by a Kathak dance drama based on Ramayana.
Anil Kumar, deputy commissioner for industries, said, “The international trade fair will have products from across industries, a designated floor for MSMEs, and space for women entrepreneurs. UP CM Yogi Adityanath visited the International Trade Fair in Delhi last year and asked officials to plan a trade show in UP where the potential of the state industries would gain prominence. We have planned separate halls for new exporters and exporters who have been in the business for more than five years.”
