NAVI MUMBAI: The Thane district sessions court on Saturday rejected two anticipatory bails sought by
Airoli MLA Ganesh Naik
accused of threat and rape by a
Nerul
woman, who has registered two FIRs.
Naik’s lawyer Niteen Pradhan said, “We will now challenge the bail rejection order by appealing in high court seeking pre-arrest bail in both cases.”
Additional public prosecutor
Vinit Kulkarni
said, “On Saturday, for rejecting the two anticipatory bails of accused Ganesh Naik, Thane district additional sessions judge NK Brahme considered my arguments... I had argued that the complainant was exploited by the accused
Ganesh Naik
for several years. The police custody of the accused is required for custodial interrogation as the matter is serious. The medical test of the said accused has to be conducted... Also, the accused is absconding and the accused pressurising the complainant and witnesses with threats cannot be ruled out.”
