Nashik: The
Times Group and the Nashik forest department have jointly organised a heritage walk at the famous Nandur Madhyameshwar bird sanctuary, about 40 kms from the city on February 8.
The organisers have appealed to the nature lovers to be a part of this event. So far, over 150 nature lovers have already confirmed their participation in this walk.
Nandur Madhyameshwar recently shot into limelight as it became the first Ramsar site (a wetland site designated to be of international importance under the Ramsar Convention) in Maharashtra. The coveted scientific tag would help in scientific conservation of the wetland.
Located in Niphad taluka of Nashik, Nandur Madhyameshwar is home to various kinds of birds, including the migratory ones. It is located on the confluence of Godavari and Kadwa rivers.
According to the organisers, prior registration is mandatory for those keen to take part in the event. The participants have to make their own travel arrangements to assemble at the bird viewing tower at the sanctuary by 8:30 am on the same day.
The local forest officials would accompany the participants during the heritage walk and throw light about the nitty-gritty of the sanctuary. The nature lovers can register themselves on 8380098107.
