Fadnavis promises stable industrial power rates to boost ease of doing business
Nashik: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said state govt is working on ways to keep industrial power rates stable over the next five years to reduce the cost of doing business and support efforts to bring in Rs 55,000 crore worth of investments to five districts of north Maharashtra through deals signed during his recent visit to Davos in Switzerland.Fadnavis also warned so-called ‘Mathadi' union leaders and criminal elements against resorting to goondaism, including extortion, in industrial areas, and said such elements would be dealt with severely.
The chief minister made the remarks while addressing a function after inaugurating a new industrial plant at the Supa Industrial Estate in Ahilyanagar."We are taking various steps to increase the ease of doing business. We want to provide relief to entrepreneurs by ensuring a stable power tariff for the next five years. We are also considering ideas to lower the power tariff across the state," said Fadnavis. The current tariff by MSEDCL has been implemented since June 2025.Fadnavis said industrial development in the state is lopsided and is, so far, limited to Mumbai, Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Pune."We are now taking it further to other regions. As far as law and order issues are concerned, there will be zero tolerance for herd mentality and goondaism in any of the MIDCs across the state. People who have issues may approach the regulators for the same," said Fadnavis.Addressing the gathering at the foundation of the extension of the integrated building of the Nashik Airport, Fadnavis said, "The new facility will be thrice as big as the current airport and it will be a launchpad for Nashik in the industrial sector."Fadnavis said his govt has attracted investments worth approximately Rs 55,000 crore to five districts in north Maharashtra through the Davos forum. Of this, Rs 11,519 crore would be invested in Ahilyanagar district and Rs 13,000 crore in Nashik district."For some time, the industrial growth had stunted in Nashik. But now things will change. Since Nashik residents have given us (BJP) so much, it is now time for us to repay them by bringing in development," said Fadnavis. The International Panchakalyanak Pratishtha and Mahamastakabhishek festival was also held in the presence of the CM at Namokar Tirth in Malsane village of Chandwad taluka, along the Mumbai-Agra highway. The CM said, "Tirthankaras have shown everyone the path of life through self-realisation, and the Namokar Tirth, established in the lap of the Sahyadri mountains in Nashik district, where the International Panchkalyanak festival is being held, will be known as a new centre of devotion.""The Jain community has made a significant contribution to the country's development. The Jain community generates the largest GDP in the country. The community also donates generously."
