NAGPUR: Municipal commissioner Tukaram Mundhe on Wednesday terminated the contract of retired additional municipal commissioner Rizwan Siddique as Nagpur Environmental Services Limited (NESL) director.
The civic body had formed NESL as a special purpose vehicle to monitor implementation of 24X7 water supply project.
NMC had appointed Siddique NESL director on March 1, 2018. Subsequently, the general administration department had sent a proposal to the state’s urban development department to sanction his appointment and it is yet to get any approval.
The NMC had also formed environment department and appointed superintending engineer (water works department) Shweta Banerjee as its head. So, there is no need for Siddique’s service, the civic chief’s letter stated.
The NMC has also asked Siddique to vacate the official quarter (erstwhile hospital), which he has been occupying even after his retirement, within seven days. The civic body has also withdrawn the four-wheeler allotted to him for official duties.
