Nagpur: The geographic centre of India, Nagpur, is also the ‘seva kendra’ of the country, said Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati, the 70th Peetathipathi of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, here on Tuesday night.Speaking exclusively to TOI after his arrival in the city on Tuesday evening, the Kanchi Seer was all praise for city’s cultural and devotional ambience. “While Mumbai is ‘sampatti kendra’, Pune is ‘vidya kendra’ but Nagpur is the ‘seva kendra’ of the nation. Maharashtra has all these three places, thus the state is a vital cog in the growth and development of the nation,” said Vijayendra Saraswati.Going down memory lane, the Kanchi seer said, “Way back in 1933, our predecessor Shri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Maharaj had gone to Kashi on the palkhi of Nizam. Today, I have got a chance to go to Kashi via this route (Nagpur) for the noble puja.”He appealed to all citizens of India to maintain peace and harmony.The Kanchi Seer will stay in Nagpur for nine days and perform the Kartik Somwar puja too.
