NAGPUR: Four years after being set up, the Nagpur Environmental Services Limited (NESL) board of directors are yet to streamline its system. It met after a gap of 5 months and ended up without taking any decision. There were 16 proposals on the agenda.
NMC sources told TOI that the discussion on streamlining NESL system went on for over two hours leaving no chance for discussion on other proposals.

However, the chairman of the water works committee Sudhakar Kohle said, "The NESL should become a no-profit no-loss company and improve water supply."
A proposal to reduce the charges being recovered for installation of new meters under the 24X7 water supply project has been kept pending along with other proposals. According to the proposal, the NESL working committee has decided to stop recovering road cutting charges and only levy charges of new meter. The 24X7 water supply project is going at snail's pace due to high charges being levied for installation of new meter.
Two proposals related to proper publicity and awareness among citizens about the 24X7 water supply project has become the hot topic in the NMC. The NESL has proposed to spend Rs4.11 crore in three years for garnering public support in implementing the 24X7 project and Rs58.33 lakh in three years for media management.
