Mandya schools prepare for safe reopening
Mandya: With the 2026-27 academic year set to commence on Monday, Mandya zilla panchayat chief executive officer KR Nandini has directed education and allied department officials to ensure that all govt schools are fully prepared to welcome students in a safe, clean and academically conducive environment.
Chairing a preparatory review meeting at zilla panchayat on Saturday, the CEO conducted a comprehensive assessment of school readiness across the district. Discussions focused on campus cleanliness, building safety, infrastructure maintenance, teacher deployment, enrolment drives, textbook and uniform distribution, and preparations for the Akshara Dasoha midday meal programme. Stressing the importance of accountability, she instructed teachers to report to duty punctually and discharge their responsibilities diligently.
The CEO placed special emphasis on bringing out-of-school children (OOSC) back into the mainstream education system and called for intensive enrolment campaigns to strengthen public confidence in govt schools.
On the academic front, the CEO expressed concern over low SSLC pass percentages in certain taluks and directed officials to prepare microanalysis plans aimed at improving student performance. To strengthen infrastructure, executive engineers and assistant executive engineers were asked to complete school building inspections by June 3. Headmasters have been directed to remain present during inspections and report structural and classroom-related issues.
