Couple from Kodagu return to Iran safely
Madikeri: A couple from Kodagu, Naveena and Nadar, who were stuck in Kodagu for several months, unable to return to Iran amid fears of further escalation of the war in West Asia, reached Iran safely last week. Naveena, daughter of retired Air Force officer Biddanda D Bopanna of Kodagu, and Iranian citizen Nadar were married 40 years ago. They were living in Iran with their two children.
Every year, Naveena would come to her hometown Kantur in Murnad with her husband Nadar and spend time with their family, and then visit her sister for a few days. Like every year, this time too, when they came to Kodagu, they could not go back to Iran due to the war and had to stay in Kodagu.
Despite contacting the external affairs ministry many times, there was no proper response. Due to the increasing intensity of the war and disruption of air traffic, the couple managed to travel to Iran via Oman from Bengaluru and reach their home in Bojnur area.
The couple, who were away from their family for the past five months, joined their children and grandchildren who were waiting for them in Iran.
Sharing their happiness, the couple said that it was a great joy to be reunited with their family after many months of anxiety and to see the fruits grown in their garden.
