Thane Municipal Corporation’s first CBSE school to open in Kharegaon from June 8
Thane: The Thane Municipal Corporation is all set to operate its first CBSE-affiliated school at Kharegaon starting June 8, Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao announced on Tuesday following a review of the campus.
The school will be run in partnership with non-profit organisation Christel House India for the next 30 years where the organisation will be responsible for appointing trained teaching and non-teaching staff and providing free education from pre-primary to Class XII. In the first phase, classes from nursery to Standard II will be started.
The TMC and the non-profit organisation had signed a Memorandum of Understanding in September last year.
“The initiative would provide students from economically weaker section with access to national-level CBSE curriculum and create new opportunities for quality education. Students will receive uniforms, textbooks, educational materials, meals and transportation facilities without any cost. The emphasis will be on higher education support, career guidance and employability-oriented training also,” said Rao.
The school building is equipped with a library, science and computer laboratory, language lab, dedicated spaces for sports and arts, CCTV surveillance, fire safety systems among others.
