THANE: Scores of Thane residents across age groups enjoyed a refreshing Sunday morning as they participated in various recreational activities at the Happy Streets Carnival.
The stretch along Gladys Alwares Road was teeming with enthusiasts who participated in a variety of activities, including Zumba and dance sessions for the fitness-conscious, as well as arts and crafts sessions like face painting and street painting. The three-hour carnival also featured interactive sessions with experts on yoga and meditation, while sporting enthusiasts immersed themselves in activities like tug of war and cricket.
Siblings Parth and Prisha, accompanied by their father Kunal B, experienced all the sporting events as well as the arts and crafts sections. Balgopal Krishnan, who was spotted displaying his skills at the archery centre with his son, said they would like to participate in more such events during vacation.
At the arts and crafts session, a spirited nine-year-old, Paulomi flaunted her artwork to her proud parents. They said they were surprised to see her display her artistic streak.
Nearby, craftsman Hitesh Savania was seen guiding children in creating miniature and designer clay pots with dexterity. "This is a good opportunity for children to explore their creative side," said Geeta Sharma, as she watched her son craft small containers on the potter's wheel.
At the arena marked for music lovers, 70-plus Suhas Tilak, a resident of Hyde Park, matched beats on a drum with amateur musicians. "This is a nice way to start the mornings, and I am looking forward to participating in more such initiatives," he said.
