Mumbai-Pune commute set for makeover with signal-free Atal Setu link

February 2027 deadline set

A firm completion target of February 2027 has been fixed, with work being fast-tracked on the 7.35 km connector linking Atal Setu to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, aiming to create a seamless, signal-free travel corridor.

7.35 km strategic link

The connector spans 7.35 km, bridging a critical gap between Atal Setu and the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, forming an essential part of the Mumbai 3.0 growth corridor.

Two key stretches

The project includes a 4.6 km Chirle elevated corridor and a 2.75 km stretch from Palaspe to the Expressway, ensuring continuous connectivity across major junctions.

Over 50% work done

Construction has crossed the halfway mark, with 55% of the work completed. Execution is progressing across multiple locations simultaneously to meet the set deadline.

Structural work progress

Out of 176 foundations, 143 are complete, along with piers at 141 locations. Additionally, 88 pier caps have been completed, marking steady advancement in core structural development.

Girders near completion

A total of 653 out of 830 precast girders have been launched, indicating significant progress in superstructure work for the elevated and connecting sections.

On-ground work underway

Work on slip roads and service road widening at Palaspe is ongoing, alongside parallel construction activities across different stretches of the project.

Faster Mumbai-Pune travel

The connector is expected to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Pune by up to 90 minutes while enabling smooth traffic dispersal from Atal Setu and easing congestion at key junctions.
