Mumbai police arrest drug financier from Solapur

MUMBAI: The city crime branch probing the drug manufacturing factory in Solapur on Thursday arrested the main accused who was the partner in the manufacturing firm in Solapur.

The unit 9 of the crime branch on Thursday took the custody of Kiran Kumar Birajdar (36), a native of Karnataka who was lodged in Solapur jail in connection with another seizure of drugs by the Mohol police station in Solapur. Mumbai police officials said that as Birjadar's name cropped in the investigations, they took court's permission for his production warrant and took his custody from Solapur jail.

Investigating officer Daya Nayak said that Birjadar is the partner with the three earlier arrested accused and it was him who had provided the MD Production lab equipment from his contact.

In October, Mumbai police had raided Shree Shenky Industrial area in Solapur and busted a MD manufacturing factory and seized 8kg of MD and recovered more than 100kg of raw material used to make MD.

Police arrested Rahul Gawli and his brother Atul Gawli and Jain and Kailasm Vanmali.
