MUMBAI: It was an amazing feeling to witness utmost devotion and gracefully decorated idols, said consul generals, their deputies and high-level officials and representatives from various countries who visited the prominent Ganesh Pandals in Mumbai on Friday.


The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) organised their tour under the guidance of CM Eknath Shinde and his deputy Devendra Fadnavis.

The event was attended by tourism minister Mangalprabhat Lodha who welcomed the delegation at the popular Ganesh Galli in Lalbaug and explained to them the socio-cultural background of the 10-day festivity celebrated all over Maharashtra.

The consul generals of countries such as Kobbi Shoshani of Israel, Guillermo Devoto of Argentina, Anton Poskov of Belarus, Chiranjib Sarkar of Bangladesh, Peter Truswell of Australia, Damian Irzyk of Poland, and Valsan Vethody of Srilanka were prominent among those present in the visit. Britain's Deputy head of mission Catherine Barnes and Tolaha Ubeidi, deputy counsel general of Indonesia also participated in the delegation.

The delegates first visited the GSB Ganesh Mandal in Matunga which is the most decorated one with gold, followed by the famous Lalbaug Cha Raja at Lalbaug Ganesh Galli, and the first and oldest among all the pandals - the Keshavji Naik CHawal Ganesh, founded by country's one of the leading revolutionaries Lokmanya Tilak.
