Man held for cheating with phone in staff selection exam

MUMBAI: A man was held for allegedly using electronic devices for cheating during the online exam conducted for the selection of senior clerical staff in the state agriculture department on Monday. The police arrested Ramkishan Bedke (30), a resident of Aurangabad, and seized a mobile, Bluetooth earbuds, and SIM embedded electronic transmitter which was used to get the answers from his colleague who was helping him to solve the online exam.

Bedke had hidden the mobile in his inner wears which was caught in switch-on mode when he was frisked by the supervisor present at the examination centre. The mobile was paired to the earphone device, said a police officer.

Few minutes after the exam began at 8.30am the supervisor at the centre got suspicious of Bedke as he heard some sounds while passing by. The supervisor then informed the district superintendent. "Bedke tried to flee from the examination hall. But was caught and taken to the second floor. During a search, the electronic devices were found hidden in his clothes," said the police. Bedke is in police custody, said senior inspector Jitendra Sonawane.

Gang which cheated people with smuggled gold caught

A gang of four individuals involved in cheating people by pretending to sell smuggled gold bars in Thuvankurichi, Trichy, was arrested by the police. The gang would deceive victims by offering them smuggled gold bars at a discounted price, only to snatch their cash during the transaction. The police seized various items, including fake gold bars, cash, mobile phones, and fake documents. The gang is believed to have operated in multiple locations, and the police are urging any additional victims to come forward. The main leader of the gang and three others are still at large.

Goa man held for stealing trailer truck from police custody

A resident of Indiranagar, Chimbel, stole a trailer truck that was in the custody of the Old Goa police station. The truck had previously been involved in an accident where it rammed into a shed, narrowly missing workers who were inside. The truck was then parked near ITI Corlim as the police station was operating from temporary premises. The truck was subsequently stolen by Shivram Ramakanth Kadam.
