Mumbai reports lowest deaths since April 8

Mumbai's COVID-19 caseload crossed the 7 lakh mark on Wednesday as 1,362 came out to be positive for coronavirus. The total number of cases in the city has now climbed to 7,01,266. On the other hand, the city witnessed the lowest number of deaths due to the infection since April 8, after 34 patients succumbed to the virus. The death toll has now surged to 14,742. The city saw fewer recoveries than fresh cases in the last 24 hours. The total number of COVID-19 recoveries in the city is now pitched at 6,56,446 with the addition of 1,021 discharges today. At present, 27,943 persons are undergoing treatment for coronavirus in Mumbai.

Helping hands

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown-like restrictions, many have lost their jobs and are finding it difficult to earn a living. To mitigate their hardship, Sri Shankara Hindu Mission, an organization in Mumbai, with the help of a few senior citizens will be providing free ration kits for one month to those in need including flower vendors, taxi men, barbers, maids, cooks and watchmen.
