MEERUT: A 35-year-old woman, who was allegedly raped and forced to terminate her pregnancy, reached a police station in Meerut to file a complaint on Wednesday. Police later found her "four-month-old dead fetus" at her partner's home and arrested the accused after registering a case.
Station house officer (SHO) Vishnu Kumar said on Thursday, "An FIR was registered under BNS sections 69 (sexual intercourse by deceitful means) and 89 (causing miscarriage without a woman's consent). The accused has been apprehended, and the woman was sent for medical examination. She is now stable."
The 23-year-old accused, a daily-wager, befriended the married woman around three years ago, following which they started living together.
The complainant, who was estranged from her husband, claimed the accused sexually assaulted her repeatedly during her stay with him. Upon learning about her pregnancy, the accused forced her to take medicine and undergo abortion.
The SHO said, "Investigation revealed that the woman was married 15 years ago to a man in Muzaffarnagar and has a 13-year-old daughter. She later developed a relationship with a man from Meerut and started living with him."
